Artist Statement
I studied Visual Art in college in Grande Prairie before going into the field of Education. The combination of studies has presented some interesting opportunities over the years including teaching here at the Jasper High School, guiding students on art courses in Japan and Europe and most recently the two year post I undertook in Bangkok where I helped to establish an art program at a private school.
Being surrounded by the lights, sounds and seasons of the “Big Mango” was magical – the city was a muse reflected in the artwork I’ve brought back to Canada. From rolling thunder city landscapes to calm and vivid ocean deserts, the passing of time turned into streaks of light moving across my canvas.
Throughout all the travel and adjustment to life as an expat, Jasper was firmly in my heart. In my current series “Horizons” I have merged the calmness - and craziness - of Southeast Asia with the outlook of Western Canada.
